EU Council President Antonio Costa stated firmly that it is too early to talk about lifting any sanctions on Iran. His comments came during a joint press conference following a meeting of EU leaders in Cyprus.
Supporting Costa's stance, EU Commission President Ursula von der Leyen echoed similar sentiments, advocating caution before easing any restrictions against Iran.
German Chancellor Friedrich Merz added that while EU leaders are open to gradually easing sanctions, such actions hinge on the successful negotiation of a comprehensive agreement with Iran.
