A special court in Sivaganga, Tamil Nadu, has imposed the death penalty on 45-year-old Chandran for the sexual assault of five minor girls, labeling it a 'rarest of rare crime.'
Chandran, a local woodcutter, committed the crime when his wife was away assisting their daughter with childbirth. He lured the young victims, aged around 10, by showing obscene videos and offering snacks.
The case came to light after one of the victims informed her mother, leading to Chandran's arrest. The Sivaganga POCSO Fast Track Court justified the maximum punishment due to the premeditated nature of the crime.
