Police arrested a Pakistani national allegedly living illegally in India, charging him with using forged identity documents, officials announced Friday.

Superintendent of Police Abhishek Pratap Ajeya reported that Wasid Irshad, from New Karachi, Pakistan, was detained during a routine check near Numaish Pul based on suspicion and specific intelligence.

Authorities revealed that Irshad applied for a long-term visa, his mother had been granted one but passed away in 2012. They discovered he used false documents under the name Syed Wasid Ali from Bulandshahr. The investigation continues as Irshad has been incarcerated.
