The Delhi government is set to revolutionize the welfare framework for its construction workers by introducing chip-enabled smart cards, as confirmed by officials on Thursday. This approach aims to streamline the registration process and the implementation of welfare schemes.
A new digital platform will be launched to enhance the collection of cess from builders, crucial for funding these welfare schemes, noted the Delhi Building and Other Construction Workers' Welfare Board.
The innovative system, which includes a cess management portal along with Karmik Sewa Kendras, intends to address the needs of approximately 30 lakh workers, focusing particularly on migrant laborers, by digitizing processes to ensure transparency and prevent unauthorized registrations.
