In a significant statement against the backdrop of the ongoing West Asian conflict, India's Defence Minister Rajnath Singh addressed the German Parliamentary Standing Committee on Defence and Security. He emphasized the immediate impacts of disruptions in the Strait of Hormuz on India’s security and economic stability, outlining the global nature of current security threats.
During his three-day Germany visit, Singh advocated for stronger industrial collaborations between India and Germany. Highlighting the strategic partnership, Prime Minister Modi and German Chancellor Friedrich Merz emphasize advancing bilateral cooperation, especially through the India–EU Defence and Strategic Partnership.
Singh stressed that the global ramifications of regional geopolitical instabilities affect energy, food security, and economic stability. He noted the enduring Germany-India relations, underlined by cultural ties, during his Berlin visit where he paid homage to Rabindranath Tagore at Humboldt University.
