Sri Lanka Urged to Uncover the Truth Behind Easter Attacks

On Tuesday, Sri Lanka commemorated the 7th anniversary of the tragic Easter blasts. During a special mass, Archbishop of Colombo, Malcolm Cardinal Ranjith, urged authorities to intensify investigations into the deadly incident, stressing the need to hold all those involved accountable, regardless of their standing.
The incident, which took place on April 21, 2019, involved nine suicide bombers from a local extremist group linked to ISIS. The attacks targeted three Catholic churches and several luxury hotels, resulting in nearly 270 fatalities and injuring more than 500 people.
Ranjith highlighted the importance of uncovering the attack's masterminds and criticized certain factions for obstructing investigations. He also mentioned the arrest of state intelligence head Suresh Sallay, urging transparency and action to prevent future tragedies.
