The Supreme Court on Tuesday grilled the Uttar Pradesh government, questioning why their investigating officer appears to be neglecting court orders in a 2021 Noida hate crime case against a senior citizen. Justices Vikram Nath and Sandeep Mehta expressed dissatisfaction with the police's compliance in the case.

Additional Solicitor General K M Nataraj was asked to explain the absence of Section 153-B of the IPC in the case, regarding offenses prejudicial to national integration. The court noted this section, along with 295-A, was deemed necessary by the court for the FIR due to the allegations detailed.

The petitioner claims he was victimized in a hate crime because of his religious identity in July 2021. The Supreme Court has pressed the Uttar Pradesh government to adhere to its legal obligations, hinting at potential consequences if compliance isn't met by a set deadline.
