Court Upholds Conviction of Samajwadi Leader Azam Khan and Son
The special MP/MLA court in Rampur, Uttar Pradesh, has dismissed appeals by Samajwadi Party leader Azam Khan and his son Abdullah, confirming their conviction in a dual PAN card case. Both have been imprisoned since 2025. Meanwhile, appeals for sentence enhancement are still pending.

In Rampur, Uttar Pradesh, a special MP/MLA court has rejected appeals by Azam Khan and his son Abdullah, who were convicted of possessing dual PAN cards. The Samajwadi Party leaders remain imprisoned since November 2025.
Special Judge Vijay Kumar dismissed the appeals on Monday, reinforcing the lower court's decision. Assistant District Government Counsel Seema Singh Rana announced that further proceedings related to potential sentence enhancement are forthcoming.
While the state government and another entity pursue sentence enhancement, separate petitions are awaiting hearing. The case focuses on the alleged possession of two PAN cards by the convicted individuals.
