In a startling revelation, British Prime Minister Keir Starmer announced on Monday that neither he nor any ministers were made aware that former U.S. ambassador Peter Mandelson received security clearance against the vetting agency's advice in January 2025.
Addressing the matter, Starmer expressed regret to the victims of the late sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, insisting that Mandelson's appointment as the UK's ambassador to the U.S. was a grievous error.
He strongly criticized the judgment that led to granting the clearance, reaffirming his commitment to rectifying such oversights in the future.
