High Court Quashes PIL on RSS Chief's Security Costs

The Bombay High Court rejected a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) on Monday that sought to recoup the cost of Z-plus security provided to Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) chief, Mohan Bhagwat. The court questioned the motives behind the plea, noting concerns over its intent.

Lalan Singh, a resident of Nagpur, filed the PIL through his lawyer, Ashwin Ingole, arguing that taxpayers' money is being misused to fund security for Bhagwat, as the RSS is not a registered organization. Singh's arguments cited a 2023 Supreme Court ruling related to Mukesh Ambani's security payments.

Chief Justice Shree Chandrashekhar and Justice Anil Kilor of the division bench expressed skepticism over the plea's intentions, resulting in the PIL's dismissal. A detailed order from the court is awaited on the matter.
