Arson Attacks Highlight Rising Threats to Media and Communities in London
Three individuals have been arrested following an attempted arson attack on Iran International's parent company in London. It highlights growing threats to Persian-language media and Jewish communities. The incident occurred a day after a similar attempt on a synagogue, amid rising tensions and threats against media and diaspora groups.
On Thursday, British police detained three suspects linked to an arson attempt at a Persian-language media organization's London office. This incident follows two similar attacks in the city, raising concerns over safety.
The Iranian parent company, Volant Media, had a lit container thrown at its premises. Fortunately, it extinguished before causing harm or damage. Those arrested include two men, aged 19 and 21, and a 16-year-old boy, all suspected of arson with intent to endanger life. While not treated as terrorism, counterterrorism officers are part of the investigation.
Iran International spokesperson cited the incident amid growing intimidation threats. This occurred a day post an arson attempt on a synagogue. The concern grows with ongoing threats to London's Jewish and Iranian communities, intensifying fears of foreign-linked hostility.
