Amritpal Singh, a Khadoor Sahib MP, finds his legal battle intensifying as the Punjab government seeks to keep him in Diburgarh jail. The government filed a fresh plea before the Punjab and Haryana High Court, just as Singh's detention under the National Security Act reaches its end on April 22.

This move follows the court's dismissal of Singh's earlier plea challenging the third detention order issued in April 2025. Punjab's counsel cited intelligence inputs and security concerns as reasons for maintaining Amritpal's custody in Assam.

Amritpal's counsel, Iman Singh Khara, anticipates a court hearing on Friday. The political figure, known for his independent win from Khadoor Sahib in 2024, was initially arrested in 2023 after clashing with police in Amritsar, an incident that sparked his prolonged detention.
