Modi Champions Women's Quota Without Discrimination in Constituency Delimitation

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday emphasized that all Indian states will be treated equally in the delimitation of constituencies associated with the Women's Quota Law. He spoke during a debate on proposed amendments to the law in the Lok Sabha.

Modi stressed the importance of not diminishing the proportion of Lok Sabha seats in any state. He articulated that the proportionality of seats will remain unchanged even after the delimitation process. Modi urged political parties to support the women's reservation as a rightful legislative privilege rather than a concession.

Responding to concerns from states—particularly in the south and east—about potential bias in the delimitation exercise, Modi assured that no state would face discrimination. He noted that historical opposition to women's legislative rights had political costs, calling upon leaders to prioritize national interest over political gain.
