Tragedy on the Yamuna: Mathura's Quest for Answers

In the wake of a harrowing tragedy that claimed 15 lives, the Mathura district administration has initiated a magisterial inquiry into a boat capsize incident in Vrindavan, officials reported on Wednesday.

District Magistrate Chandra Prakash Singh has assigned Additional District Magistrate Pankaj Kumar Verma to spearhead this investigation. The disaster occurred on April 10, when a vessel carrying pilgrims from Punjab collided with bridge pontoons near the Keshi Ghat, overturning in the Yamuna river.

With 15 confirmed fatalities and one person still missing, authorities are diligently working to understand the accident's causes and identify any safety protocol breaches. The administration is inviting witnesses and organizations with relevant information to submit their testimony by April 23.
