Decades on the Run: Fugitive Arrested in J&K After 39 Years

In a notable law enforcement achievement, police in Jammu and Kashmir’s Budgam district have arrested a fugitive who has been evading capture for almost four decades. The arrest stems from a 1987 case involving charges of abduction and rape.

Identified as Bashir Ahmad Ganaie, the accused hails from Drer Kalipora in the Shopian district and was currently residing in Kulgam when he was finally captured. This significant breakthrough was announced by a police spokesperson who credited a well-coordinated operation for the successful arrest.
