In a major breakthrough, a 45-year-old man has been apprehended in Uttar Pradesh for allegedly stealing gold ornaments worth Rs 4.50 lakh from a woman passenger in a local train in Thane.

Authorities combed through CCTV footage across various railway stations and the Panvel bus stand, eventually identifying a man wearing a cap, recognized as Furkan Sukhe Ansari, in Badkhal footage. The complainant confirmed Ansari as her seatmate in the train compartment.

Acting on a tip-off about Ansari's frequent visits to a market in Bijnor, Uttar Pradesh, a police team coordinated with local officers, carrying out a midnight raid in Raza Colony, Bijnor. Ansari was arrested on April 4, and the stolen gold was recovered. Police continue to search for his three accomplices.
