Midnight Bust: Capture of Deadly Bangladesh-Based Dacoit Gang

Six alleged members of a notorious Bangladesh-based dacoit gang were apprehended by Delhi Police officials following a high-stakes encounter that occurred near Sarai Kale Khan. This gang is known for committing heinous crimes including violent robberies and murders across multiple Indian states, and its members typically fled to Bangladesh post-crime.

Officials from the Anti-Extortion and Kidnapping Cell (AEKC) of the Crime Branch mounted a strategic operation based on credible intelligence. The confrontation led to the arrest of the suspects, residents of Bagerhat district in Bangladesh, who were planning a robbery in South Delhi. Two of the gang members managed to escape under the cover of darkness.

The gang is accused of multiple dacoities, involving brutal tactics and targeting wealthy households, particularly those with elderly residents, in states such as Goa, Karnataka, Uttar Pradesh, and Odisha. They employed a hit-run-hide strategy and evaded detection by avoiding mobiles, using human couriers and smugglers instead. Weapons and tools were recovered, and investigations are ongoing to track the absconding members and accomplices.
