Serbia is making a significant strategic shift by integrating attack drones into its military, President Aleksandar Vucic declared on Wednesday. The plan marks Serbia's ongoing efforts to update its military from outdated Soviet-era technology, purchasing modern weapons from Europe, Israel, and China.

In a balancing act between NATO and EU partnerships, as well as ties with Russia and China, Serbia remains militarily neutral. Following talks with military leaders, Vucic stated the intention to form units equipped with cutting-edge attack drones capable of long-range strikes and hovering before engaging targets.

Amid increased regional tensions, particularly from neighboring nations like Croatia, Bosnia, and Kosovo, Serbia has embarked on ambitious defense acquisitions, including Israeli PULS artillery systems and French Rafale jets. Despite criticisms, Serbia maintains that its rearmament efforts do not pose a regional threat.
