Convict's Outburst at Thane Court Sparks Controversy

A convict, already serving a life sentence, reportedly assaulted a jail constable in Maharashtra's Thane district after being denied an unauthorized meeting with his brother at a court premises, authorities revealed on Sunday. The convict has been identified as Avinash Jadhav, currently detained at Thane central jail.

The incident unfolded on April 2 when the constable, overseeing returning undertrials and convicts, was allegedly attacked by Jadhav at the prison entrance. Jadhav was reportedly upset following a morning encounter at the Mumbai sessions court, where he was prevented from meeting his brother.

A police official confirmed that Jadhav, enraged by the denied meeting, caused a commotion by shouting at jail staff and threatening on-duty personnel. A case has now been registered against him under sections including 132 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.
