Historic Spending Surge in Social Justice Initiatives
The Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment in India has reached its highest-ever expenditure of Rs 11,810.82 crore for the fiscal year 2025-26. This marks a 14% increase from the previous year, focusing on welfare schemes for marginalized communities, drug demand reduction, and the welfare of vulnerable groups.

The Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment has reached a milestone with the highest-ever expenditure of Rs 11,810.82 crore during the fiscal year 2025-26. This represents a 14% increase over the previous year's expenditure.
The department focused on enhancing welfare schemes for Scheduled Castes, Other Backwards Classes, sanitation workers, senior citizens, transgender persons, and people engaged in begging. Significant funds were also allocated for drug demand reduction programs.
This spending underscores the government's dedication to social justice, empowerment, and the inclusive development of marginalized and vulnerable sections of society, as highlighted in an official statement released on Saturday.
