A harrowing accident claimed the lives of nine family members, including six children, in Nashik, Maharashtra, when their car inadvertently fell into an open well. The tragedy unfolded in the Shivaji Nagar area of Dindori town late Friday night.
In response to the accident, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis expressed sorrow over the loss and announced an immediate safety audit of open wells, highlighting the need for heightened safety measures. It was noted that a low boundary wall contributed to the incident.
State Disaster Management Minister Girish Mahajan declared a compensation of Rs 5 lakh for the bereaved family. Additionally, statewide instructions were given to assess the safety of wells near public areas, with the Nashik collector appointed to conduct an inquiry into the incident.
