BJP leader Champai Soren has threatened to reclaim unused land from Bokaro Steel Plant, initially acquired from displaced families in the 1960s. BJP leader Champai Soren has issued a strong ultimatum to the Bokaro Steel Plant and the state government: provide jobs promised to displaced families or return their land. Speaking in Bokaro on Friday, Soren highlighted the plight of families displaced by the plant 60 years ago, who continue to seek compensation and employment.
Despite promises, many of the displaced have not received jobs, and some plots remain unused since being acquired for the plant. Soren unveiled a statue of Prem Prasad Mahato, an activist killed during a protest, lending gravity to his statements. He emphasized the unjust delay in addressing the needs of the affected families.
He threatened to join forces with landowners to plough the vacant lands if the demands are not met in six weeks. He also criticized the plant management for giving young apprentices certificates instead of jobs, labeling the act as 'outright fraud.'
