The Tripura High Court has put the state government on notice, directing it to present a comprehensive report on border security measures within three months. This order emerged amid allegations of insufficient action despite established Ministry of Home Affairs guidelines.
A division bench, led by Chief Justice M S Ramachandra Rao, addressed a petition by three individuals, including Tipra Motha Party MLA Ranjit Debbarma, who raised concerns about inadequate government response to infiltration issues.
The court's directive underscores the urgent need for the northeastern state, which shares an 856 km border with Bangladesh, to fortify its defenses and ensure internal security. While 85% of the border is fenced, the effectiveness of these measures remains under scrutiny.
