On Thursday, Rima Hassan, a French far-left Member of the European Parliament, found herself in police custody due to a contentious comment she had posted on X last month. The news was confirmed by her fellow party member Jean-Luc Melenchon.
Melenchon took to X to address the situation, following a report by the French daily, Le Parisien, which first broke the news of Hassan's detention.
As of now, both Hassan and her lawyer have not responded to any requests for comments on the matter, leaving many questions unanswered about the incident's circumstances.
