Jammu and Kashmir government has identified 233 illegal commercial and residential structures within Jammu city over the past 13 months. The data, released in response to BJP MLA Vikram Randhawa's question, reveals 122 residential and 107 commercial illegalities.

The government has sealed 64 commercial structures from July 2025 to February 2026 due to building norm violations, with 61 more demolished since October 2024. Most actions are governed by the COBO Act, 1988. Banquet hall operations face scrutiny under an ongoing high court petition from 2010.

Further issues involve unauthorized parking charges, leading to FIR instructions. Meanwhile, disciplinary actions include suspending two JDA officials and red entries for others involved in land encroachment.
