The Odisha Police successfully arrested a fugitive undertrial prisoner, Raja Sahani, who had escaped from the Choudwar Circle Jail in Cuttack during last year's Durga Puja celebrations.

Odisha DGP Y B Khurania confirmed the arrest, stating that Sahani was captured in Rishikesh, Uttarakhand, and is currently being transported to Odisha on transit remand for further investigation.

Sahani and another inmate, Madhukanta Kumar, both originally from Bihar, made their daring escape during the festivities. Having initially sought refuge in holy places to blend in with crowds, diligent police work ultimately led to Sahani's capture.
