Ecuador has witnessed a remarkable 28% reduction in intentional homicides nationwide in March, following intensified military operations under a nightly curfew in four provinces known for drug trafficking.
The provinces of Guayas, Los Rios, El Oro, and Santo Domingo saw increased security presence after President Daniel Noboa enforced the curfew and operations aimed at dismantling criminal networks.
Interior Minister John Reimberg reported that approximately 4,300 arrests were made, including that of a gang leader, while Defense Minister Gian Carlo Loffredo emphasized the necessity of control in reclaiming national security.
