47 Lakh Objections Addressed in West Bengal's Electoral Roll Revision
The Calcutta High Court's Chief Justice reported to the Supreme Court that 47 lakh of the 60 lakh objections in the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of West Bengal's electoral rolls have been addressed by March 31. The remaining objections are being resolved daily and are expected to be completed by April 7.

The chief justice of the Calcutta High Court has informed the Supreme Court that substantial progress has been made in addressing objections to West Bengal's electoral rolls. As of March 31, approximately 47 lakh out of 60 lakh objections have been dealt with, marking a significant milestone in the process.
The Supreme Court, consisting of a bench including Chief Justice Surya Kant, Justices Joymalya Bagchi, and Vipul M Pancholi, received an optimistic update from the high court, noting that 1.75 lakh to 2 lakh objections are being processed daily.
The Supreme Court is currently hearing related pleas and has been informed that all objections are set to be resolved by April 7. This represents a crucial step forward in the Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls in the region.
