A British man, Craig Foreman, detained in Tehran, urges Prime Minister Keir Starmer to publicly deny espionage charges against him and his wife. Sentenced to 10 years' imprisonment, Foreman challenges the UK's government to defend their innocence amid heightened tensions from the ongoing U.S.-Israeli war on Iran.
A British national detained in Tehran, Craig Foreman, has called on Prime Minister Keir Starmer to publicly reject espionage allegations against him and his wife. Both are facing 10-year sentences in Iran, charged with spying for Britain and Israel, accusations they vehemently deny.
In a recording from Evin prison, shared with Reuters, Foreman criticizes the British government for its silence and lack of support. He describes their situation as living in a 'war zone' and asserts that they feel abandoned by their government, calling for a more visible demonstration of support.
The British foreign ministry branded their sentences as 'totally unjustifiable,' emphasizing the priority of the welfare of British detainees in Iran. A spokesperson affirmed the government's commitment to relentlessly seek the couple's safe return to the UK.
