Trans rights activists staged a protest against the proposed Transgender Persons (Protection of Rights) Amendment Bill, demanding its withdrawal and the recognition of transmen in all laws to protect their dignity and fundamental rights.
The protest, held at Dharna Chowk, raised slogans like 'Our Body – Our Rights' and condemned the bill as 'completely inhumane.' Advocate G Kiran Raj criticized the involvement of medical boards in issuing transgender certificates, advocating for gender identity based on personal self-identification.
Activist Surya Raj Yadav described medical board validation as a violation of privacy and self-determination, while other protesters demanded explicit inclusion of transmen and the removal of stigmatizing provisions. They warned of further action, such as laying siege to Secretariats nationwide if their rights are not respected.
