Former NCB Mumbai zonal director Sameer Wankhede adamantly denied accusations of seeking a bribe from actor Shah Rukh Khan. The allegations pertain to the release of Khan’s son, Aryan Khan, after his arrest in a high-profile cruise drug bust case.
Aabad Ponda, representing Wankhede, argued before the Bombay High Court that the CBI lacks evidence to support claims that Wankhede demanded Rs 25 crore to clear Aryan Khan's name. The court is reviewing the FIR filed by the CBI accusing Wankhede of corruption.
The ongoing legal battle stems from a 2021 incident where Aryan Khan was detained by the Narcotics Control Bureau during a raid. Initially, an 'independent witness' alleged that officials sought bribes, leading to an NCB internal probe, ultimately shared with the CBI.
