A school teacher in Bhubaneswar has been suspended following allegations of negligence in election-related duties. Rashmi Sahoo, from Government High School, was appointed as a Booth Level Officer (BLO) but failed to meet her obligations.
The Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation issued a notification citing her dereliction of duty during the SIR exercise for electoral rolls. Sahoo did not attend or execute her tasks properly, without providing valid reasons or authorization.
Such conduct was deemed misconduct, violating the Representation of the People Acts, and led to her immediate suspension by the District Election Officer, Chanchal Rana. The SIR exercise is set to commence on April 1 in Odisha.
