On Thursday, Odisha's Assembly got a sobering update from Minister Suresh Pujari: 416 individuals have perished in fire-related tragedies over the past three fiscal years.

The fires resulted in property losses amounting to Rs 27.84 crore and damage to 2,537 homes during 2022-23, 2023-24, and 2024-25.

Pujari emphasized the state's commitment to compensating victims, offering Rs 4 lakh to families of deceased victims and varying aid to injured individuals and those with property damage.
