China-South Korea to Strengthen Trade Amid Geopolitical Challenges

In a significant diplomatic development, Chinese and South Korean officials have agreed to bolster trade and maintain stability in supply chains, according to statements released on Thursday. This agreement comes as both nations navigate disruptions caused by the Iran War and shifting U.S. trade policies.
During meetings in Beijing, China's Commerce Minister Wang Wentao expressed commitment to deepening cooperation in trade and investment with South Korea. The nations aim to prevent disruptions in logistics and raw materials by establishing immediate communication channels for coordination.
Additionally, both parties have agreed to enhance predictability in supply chains involving critical materials such as rare earths. The collaboration will extend to sectors like semiconductors and lithium batteries, underscoring the warming bilateral relations despite China's strained ties with other regional economies.
