On Thursday, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu unveiled a significant population management policy aimed at increasing the state's population. Speaking during Ugadi celebrations in Vijayawada, the Chief Minister emphasized reviving joint family systems to support elders and enhance social stability.
Naidu outlined his vision for larger families to address declining birth rates. The government's plan includes financial incentives of Rs 25,000 for families with two or three children, transitioning from previous family planning views to stress demographic balance. He expressed concerns that a continued decline may lead to a future dominated by machines and less human workforce participation.
The policy extends to ensuring water and health security, as well as focusing on welfare and development. The Chief Minister reaffirmed his commitment to supporting the poor through targeted measures and announced initiatives for employment generation, infrastructure development, and consumer rights. Naidu is confident of a prosperous future for Andhra Pradesh by 2047.
