An acid attack on a Class 6 girl in Sangamner has drawn severe criticism from the Congress in the Maharashtra legislative assembly, spotlighting alleged lapses in law and order. Congress leader Vijay Wadettiwar described the incident in Ahilyanagar district as 'extremely disturbing,' highlighting the state's failure to address violence against women and minors.
Wadettiwar demanded an urgent discussion on the matter through an adjournment motion, stressing that the victim is in a serious condition while the perpetrators remain elusive. He criticized local police for alleged corruption and inefficiency, which he claims empower criminals.
The incident, according to Congress member Nana Patole, necessitates moving the victim to Mumbai for advanced medical care due to severe facial injuries. Speaker Rahul Narwekar has instructed the government to provide a timely report to the House, reflecting growing public concern over the administration's effectiveness in handling such crimes.
