Drone Strikes Escalate Tensions at U.S. Embassy in Baghdad

A U.S. embassy in Baghdad was hit by a drone attack, early Wednesday morning, despite heightened security measures, according to local sources. The incident followed a series of strikes the previous day.

Security officials reported Tuesday that rockets and drones targeted the embassy, causing sirens to activate as an explosion was heard near the compound. These aggressive acts targeted a U.S. diplomatic facility close to Baghdad International Airport, engaging the C-RAM air defense systems.

Iranian-supported militias have escalated attacks on U.S. interests in Iraq, responding to U.S.-Israeli military actions against Iran since late February. So far, no immediate reports of casualties or property damage have emerged.
