The Uttarakhand High Court has ordered the state authorities to file status reports on all FIRs linked to a January incident involving gym operator Deepak Kumar, widely known as 'Mohammad Deepak' after confronting Bajrang Dal activists. The case arose when activists objected to a Muslim shopkeeper's store name in Kotdwar.
Deepak Kumar, the key figure in these events, claims he's been receiving small donations since a video of the confrontation went viral. The court instructed him to submit a detailed affidavit of funds received in his bank account. He demands the quashing of an FIR against him and seeks departmental actions against the police involved.
A single bench of Justice Rakesh Thapliyal reviewed the petitions, emphasizing the need to adhere to legal procedures regarding police investigations. The next court date is scheduled for March 19, as authorities continue to assess the case.
