A Delhi court has granted bail to Vinod Tiwari, accused of disseminating a morphed video of Prime Minister Narendra Modi on social media. The court ruled that Tiwari satisfied the 'triple test' criteria of flight risk, tampering with evidence, and influencing witnesses.
The prosecution alleged that Tiwari used a Facebook account to circulate an AI-generated video depicting derogatory remarks by the Prime Minister. The case has sparked concerns over public order and harmony, prompting the special cell of the Delhi Police to register an FIR.
Despite the ongoing investigation, the court observed that further custodial interrogation was not necessary and imposed stringent bail conditions. These conditions include prohibiting Tiwari from leaving the country and engaging in similar activities during the trial.
