A Delhi court has denied bail to Riyazuddin, an accused under the stringent Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA), citing failure to meet essential conditions. The court took into account statements from co-accused that linked him to the crime.
The defense argued that Riyazuddin was falsely implicated due to previous complaints against corrupt police officers. They claimed the accusations stem from an altercation in 2022 when police demanded bribes following a minor road accident.
The prosecution alleged Riyazuddin's involvement in an organized crime syndicate led by the notorious Raj Kumar. They dismissed his claims against the police as retaliatory, noting his previous arrests for extortion under the syndicate's operations.
