EU Calls for Diplomatic End to Iran Conflict

EU foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas has urged the U.S. and Israel to cease hostilities with Iran, advocating for a diplomatic resolution. In an interview with Reuters, Kallas highlighted ongoing consultations with Middle Eastern nations to devise a strategy for peace.

Many European countries have rejected U.S. President Donald Trump's calls to take part in freeing the crucial Strait of Hormuz, citing concerns over the potential involvement in a conflict they did not initiate. Despite Trump's assertions of NATO implications, European leaders remain hesitant to engage militarily.

Kallas proposed utilizing the Black Sea grain model for the Strait of Hormuz to mitigate a global energy crisis. The model successfully facilitated grain exports from Ukraine amidst war, sparking interest from the United Nations Secretary General as a potential peaceful solution.
