Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M K Stalin urgently sought Prime Minister Narendra Modi's assistance on Friday to release Rs 3,112 crore in pending funds for the Jal Jeevan Mission projects, vital for the state's water infrastructure.
In a letter to Modi, Stalin highlighted that the Ministry of Jal Shakti's Department of Drinking Water and Sanitation had stalled central aid for the Hogenekkal Phase-III Combined Water Supply Scheme. The project had secured approval in June 2023, but the state faces pressing financial gaps to complete it.
Stalin underscored that substantial advancements have been made under the Jal Jeevan Mission, with many village schemes nearing completion. He seeks prompt central government support for additional projects, expressing confidence in equitable water access for rural communities.
