A Delhi court has granted a request for further investigation into the tragic deaths of three civil service aspirants who perished in a flooded basement in Old Rajinder Nagar in July 2024. This decision comes after a protest petition from the father of one of the deceased, Nevin Dalvin, claiming the initial probe was subpar.
The Principal District and Sessions Judge Dinesh Bhatt directed the Investigating Officer to delve deeper into the case, which was first handled by the central agency. The petition, filed by Dalvin's father Dalvin Suresh, alleged that the initial investigation lacked depth, failing to comply with the rigorous standards set by the Delhi High Court.
Despite the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) asserting that their investigation was thorough, the court found grounds for further scrutiny, particularly into allegations involving municipal officials and potential criminal negligence. The CBI's chargesheet, submitted in September 2024, is under renewed examination as the probe continues.
