The Divisional Commissioner of Nashik, Pravin Gedam, has been tasked with investigating alleged irregularities in the land acquisition process for a national highway in Muktainagar, Jalgaon district, Maharashtra. This initiative was announced by Revenue Minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule during an assembly meeting.
The investigation follows concerns raised about compensation payments to farmers, whose land was acquired but who have reportedly not received due payments. The probe's announcement came in response to a calling attention notice in the assembly.
BJP's Mangesh Chavan and Shiv Sena's Chandrakant Patil have accused former minister Eknath Khadse of involvement. However, Bawankule stated that there is currently no evidence of financial misconduct. The inquiry will examine six departmental sections, including those managing clerical duties, land records, and compensation processes, to ensure transparency and address any irregularities.
