An Israeli airstrike targeted a residential apartment block in central Beirut on Wednesday, a move that extends the scope of Israeli military operations in Lebanon's capital. According to Lebanon's state news agency, the attack caused extensive damage to two floors of the building in the Aicha Bakkar neighborhood.
There was no official comment from the Israeli military following the strike and no immediate reports of casualties. This marks the second assault in central Beirut within four days, following a recent attack on a hotel in the Raouche area, reportedly targeting top officials from Iran's Revolutionary Guards Quds Force.
Lebanese authorities have reported around 570 fatalities since hostilities began in March. The UN indicates that the conflict has displaced approximately 700,000 people in Lebanon, highlighting the severe humanitarian impact of the ongoing war.
