Celebrating the Mighty Shield: CISF's Pivotal Role in India's Security

Established in 1968, CISF now boasts 2.20 lakh personnel, protecting airports and national installations, with reserve battalions for emergencies and training facilities nationwide.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi extended his greetings to the personnel of the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) on their Raising Day, acknowledging their crucial contribution to national security. Modi highlighted the CISF's unwavering dedication and its significant role in protecting vital infrastructure throughout India.
In a message shared on X, Modi praised CISF as an embodiment of determination, discipline, and dedication. Formed in 1968, the CISF has grown from 3,129 personnel to a formidable force of 2.20 lakh members, providing security to 361 critical national installations, including 70 airports.
Beyond these duties, the CISF maintains 12 reserve battalions for emergencies and operates eight advanced training institutions across the country, continuously enhancing and fortifying this essential arm of India's security apparatus.
