AI Startup Anthropic Challenges Pentagon Blacklist in Landmark Lawsuit

The lawsuit, which targets notable figures such as President Donald Trump and Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, argues that inclusion on the blacklist is a retaliation against Anthropic's First Amendment rights. The AI startup contends that the government's actions infringe on its rights to free expression, particularly regarding discussions about AI safety.

Additionally, Anthropic accuses the government of bypassing required legal procedures, asserting violations of the Fifth Amendment's due process clause and the Administrative Procedure Act. The case is further complicated by charges of presidential overreach regarding contract terminations and blacklisting directives.
