In a significant breakthrough, police apprehended a suspected drug trafficker, Shobhit Gupta, who was found carrying 2.645 kg of smack, estimated to be worth around Rs 5.30 crore, on Sunday.
The arrest took place in Badaun district following a tip-off that led authorities to set up a stakeout near a strategic location. Superintendent of Police (City) Manush Pareek confirmed the operation.
Gupta, who hails from Saijni village, revealed during interrogation that the contraband was sourced from a relative, Rajneesh Gupta, indicating their involvement in a wider smuggling network. The police are actively pursuing leads to uncover additional members of this illicit group.
