In a tense turn of events, crude bombs exploded in a deserted club room in Paikpara, a northern suburb of Kolkata, on Saturday morning, causing alarm but no injuries, according to police reports.
The blasts occurred around 6:11 am, collapsing part of the building's tin roof onto a nearby structure. Authorities quickly defused five to six additional crude bombs found on site, intensifying efforts to discover the responsible parties and their intentions.
Amid political tensions ahead of the assembly elections, BJP and TMC leaders exchanged accusations, each attributing mischievous motives to the other. Investigations continue as the area remains secured by police.
