On Friday, the Delhi High Court issued a stern order demanding the surrender of Jaideep Sengar, brother of the convicted Unnao rape case offender, in a case concerning the custodial death of a survivor's father. A bench comprising Justices Navin Chawla and Ravinder Dudeja reviewed a plea filed by Sengar, who sought further extension of an interim bail given his conviction and an ongoing 10-year sentence.
The court observed that the interim bail initially extended to Sengar in July 2024 and last revised in April 2025 saw no further extensions, despite five court dates. In response to Sengar's plea for a release extension citing health issues, the presiding bench insisted on his surrender before considering his request, stating, ''You surrender and then we will see.''
Representing Jaideep Sengar, the senior counsel assured the court of a surrender by Saturday. Despite a history of medical bail granted for oral cancer complications, the court expressed skepticism over his claims, aligning with concerns from the Central Bureau of Investigation regarding potential fabrication of medical documents.
